The desert I have come to call home

April awakens like a baby left in a field of trash, dirty, alone and confused.  Hopefully April won't leave us like its bastard cousin March. High and dry.  The school year is nearing a close as I prepare to go to summer school for the first time in my life.  I had high hopes for this semesters choice in classes but alas they sucked..well thats not all true. My drawing class was the most fun I've had in years and I actually improved.  My anthropology class was just a daily affirmation that white people suck, young people suck, and facebook is killing us all slowly.  So here's another promised batch of sketches. These mark the first time I've used conte. Excelsior!
Best foot I've ever drawn
I got an A+ and I'll never draw another orange!

we used to write letters....

I learned a valuable lesson tonight (cue Doogie Howser music) not only can you not go back , I knew that one, but you are also hurtled forward at an incredibly alarming rate. So fast that the rules of time, space and family bend. The ups and downs make friends to plot the downfall of then and now. Deep stuff kitten! And suddenly you find yourself being asked to be the one person whose company you’ve craved since you were small. And at that moment you get to decide to do what was done or elevate . I choose the later. Just try to ignore the occasion gibbering ok?

Recent ramblings....

Winter has come outta hiding this week.  We should all enjoy the cold and snow, because summer is gonna be like the 6 level of hell. Not quite the seventh but bad enough.  I recieved my first set of grades last week in my drawing class.  This whole college experiment has just been a constant reminder of my lack of confidence.  I got all A's.  I don't know why that was so shocking.  The teacher said she'd have to be extra picky with me. I was also asked to do some illustrations for the school paper. We'll see if that pans out.  On the family front Rita got a new car..our first Hybrid YAY!  You feel that Mr. Tree? That's me hugging you.  I'm amazed at how unlike a car this car sounds. When you start it up it just goes "mmmmmeh."
So until next time remember "Sometimes at dusk, when you were trying to relax and not think of the general stagnation, the Garbage God would gather a handful of those choked-off morning hopes and dangle them somewhere just out of reach; they would hang in the breeze and make a sound like delicate glass bells, reminding you of something you never quite got hold of, and never would." -Hunter S. Thompson.

First day..lame.

Now we return from winter break.  I struggle to call in winter since it only snowed once.  But it was nice as far as college breaks can be to a 34 year old.  This returning to school phase has me feeling like a child and not in a good way.  At least this semester I have some interesting classes.  One of my classes is in temp building which I gotta say is nicer than the other regular class room, albeit a little harder to locate. They're brightly lit and have new carpet and new desks which makes us adults feel a little better about this. So here we go again.

Open Letter to the "American Dream"

Dear American dream,
Where have you been? We've missed you.  New house speaker Boehner cries at the mere mention of your name. Seriously look it up. Youtube it mofo. Each and every time that cameras are running and he says the term "American Dream" he loses his shit. It's kinda funny if not completely insulting.  I wonder did the American Dream and Mr Boehner have some previous relationship we don't know about.  Did America cheat on John? Did they have some torrid love affair that has lead poor Rep Boehner to tear up whenever he thinks about that "one summer" he and America spent ...in France.
